Notice to Mariners - Bass Strait, East Gippsland

DATE: 2 March 2016. Effective immediately.

Mariners are advised of remote operated vessel (ROV) operations being undertaken on the Bass Straight offshore oil and gas pipelines operated by Esso Australia.

During survey operations the 34 metre catamaran "MV Offshore Guardian" (ZMG 3131) will be displaying the lights and shapes required by the Collision Regulations for a vessel "restricted in her ability to manoeuvre".

MV Offshore Guardian will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 16.

The ROV inspection will commence on 3 March 2016 and will continue through to 31 May 2016.

Masters of vessels are advised to navigate with caution and to keep clear of the MV Offshore Guardian during these operations within an area detailed in Table 1.
