Accreditation

Accreditation is designed to promote the safe operation of rail services in Victoria.

Heavy rail operator accreditation

Any organisation that is seeking accreditation for heavy rail operations in Victoria will need to submit an application for accreditation to the ONRSR under the Rail Safety National Law Application Act 2013 (SA)

Light rail operator accreditation

Any organisation that is seeking accreditation for light rail (or tram) operations in Victoria must apply for accreditation with Transport Safety Victoria under the Rail Safety (Local Operations) Act 2006 (Vic).

Change your accreditation

Contact us describing:

  • The change you are proposing to make i.e. the nature, character and scope; or
  • How the change is not, or may not be, within your current competence and capacity, as per your current accreditation.

The type of change includes:

  • A change to the nature character and scope of your operations; or
  • A change to operations such that you may or may not have the capacity to perform, as per your current accreditation.

Surrender your accreditation

Contact us describing:

  • Why you seek to surrender your accreditation.

After you submit the application, we may require you to provide further information and/or fill in a statutory declaration confirming that the information you supplied is correct. After we have all the information required, we will then notify you within six months whether or not we will grant or refuse your application to change your accreditation.

If we refuse to grant the revocation, we will:

  • Notify you of the decision
  • Inform you that you have the right to seek a review of the decision
  • Give you a written statement of reasons as to why we have refused your application.
