Register a private siding

In Victoria, it is illegal to be connected with, or have access to, another private siding or an accredited transport operators' railway, without being registered.

A private siding is a siding managed by a person other than a person who controls the  rail infrastructure that the siding connects  with, or has access to, but does not include:

  • Marshalling yards
  • Sidings used mainly to enable rolling stock to pass other rolling stock that is on the same track
  • Passenger terminals
  • Sidings of a kind that the regulations state is not a private siding
