Memoranda of Understanding

As part of working collaboratively with relevant agencies, Transport Safety Victoria (TSV) has signed a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).

MOU with Chief Investigator

An MOU between TSV and the Chief Investigator, Transport and Marine Safety Investigations was signed on 28 November 2006. It outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Safety Director and the Chief Investigator (CI) and their relationship in the investigations of bus safety in Victoria.

MOU with PTV

TSV signed an MOU with Public Transport Victoria on 29 May 2012. The MOU outlines how both agencies will exchange information about bus safety matters in their joint endeavours to see continuous improvement in public transport safety.

MOU with Victoria Police

The Director, Transport Safety entered into an MOU with Victoria Police on 19 June 2014. The MOU and the associated Outcomes Statement records how both parties will communicate and cooperate in the performance of their common statutory powers and functions under relevant laws.

MOU with the Department of Education and Training

TSV signed an MOU with Department of Education and Training (DET) on 4 June 2015. The MOU outlines how both agencies will exchange information relevant to the administration of the Students with Disabilities Transport Program.

MOU with WorkSafe

This MOU with the Victorian WorkCover Authority (‘WorkSafe’) provides a framework to promote effective communication, cooperation and coordination between the parties in their statutory, operational and administrative interactions in relation to Incidents involving bus and Local Maritime operations.

Protocol with Public Transport Ombudsman

The Public Transport Ombudsman (PTO) and the Director of Transport Safety (Safety Director) both have roles and responsibilities in relation to public transport in Victoria. The purpose of this referral and communication protocol is to promote effective co-ordination and communication, ensuring both organisations effectively and efficiently refer matters, seek input and share information when appropriate. Effective from December 2016.
