Bus Safety Act 2009 changes: Info sessions for previously registered operators
13 May 2022
Changes to the Bus Safety Act 2009 and the Bus Safety Regulations 2020, saw the two-tier regulatory scheme for bus operators (registered and accredited) change into a one-tier scheme.
From 1 March 2022, bus operator registration is no longer applicable. Previously registered operators are now either automatically accredited, or, in some cases, exempt from the requirements of accreditation.
I invite you to attend any of the initial online information sessions to hear about how previously registered bus operators can meet the new requirements. I will provide clear guidance about what has changed, what remains the same, and what bus operators new to the accredited scheme need to do.

These sessions will be general in nature, and I intend to conduct additional sessions that will relate to specific bus operation types such as community service and school services soon.
If you are unable to attend any of the three initial sessions, a video recording of the presentation will be available in early June.
