Setting the standard for training providers

11 July 2017

If you are seeking a course to get your marine licence/PWC endorsement, you can refer to Maritime Safety Victoria's list of accredited training providers (ATPs).

About 70 per cent of Victorians seeking to get a marine licence attend courses run by ATPs throughout the state.

In May, MSV held our annual forum for ATPs. At these forums we alert ATPs to emerging boating issues and provide an opportunity to give feedback for continuous improvement.

All providers are required to meet the requirements of the Marine Licence Training Standards and are subjected to rigorous auditing activities.

Courses usually run for about 3 to 4 hours and cover trip preparation, safe operation, emergency procedures and licensing and registration requirements.

MSV currently accredits 23 training providers to deliver marine licence and PWC endorsement training courses and assessment.
