Water Safety Week begins on 28 November as part of the Play it Safe by the Water campaign which aims to reduce the number of drownings in Victoria.

The campaign is supported by the Victorian Government, with a number or organisations working to increase awareness of water safety in the state.

Each day of Water Safety Week will focus on a different aspect of water safety.

Tuesday, 29 November: Kidsafe Victoria will focus on the supervision of children around water.

Wednesday, 30 November: The Westpac rescue helicopter is set to deliver safety messages to primary schools in Echuca, Shepparton and Mildura.

Thursday, 1 December: Maritime Safety Victoria brings together a number of agencies for a paddling round table event to look at ways of reducing paddling-related deaths.

Friday, 2 December: Parks Victoria will focus on pier safety, while Triathlon Victoria hosts an open water swim event.

Saturday, 3 December: Aquatics & Recreation Victoria puts the focus on swimming pool safety with a water safety fun day at Oakleigh Recreation Centre.
