Pilot exempt masters

A master of a vessel may apply to the Safety Director for an exemption from the requirement to use the services of a pilot in pilot-required waters.

A pilot exemption may be granted subject to any condition imposed by the Safety Director, including a condition limiting the exemption to a particular port.

A pilot exemption granted takes effect on the day that it is granted; and remains in effect for a period of two years unless suspended or cancelled.
